About Luna Lilly Games

How This Got Out of Hand

Luna Lilly Games began with one completely reasonable thought:

“I already buy too many trading cards—surely selling them would make this financially responsible.”

It did not.

What started with a few singles and some carefully organized folders quickly became an online store, several card scanners, an unreasonable number of spreadsheets, organized-play plans, community events, packaging supplies, boxes inside other boxes, and a growing section of our home officially designated as “business stuff—please don’t touch.”

We’re a small, family-run TCG store based in Canberra. Our goal is to support the games and communities we genuinely care about—not simply stock whatever currently has Pikachu printed on it.

That means singles, sealed products, accessories, playmats, community events and support for smaller games that deserve somewhere to be played.

Everything is selected, scanned, sorted, listed, packed and shipped by real people—mostly one increasingly tired real person.

Meet the Highly Qualified Team

Ryan (Lilly) — Owner, Card Sorter and Person Responsible for This

Ryan owns Luna Lilly Games and handles purchasing, inventory, scanning, website work, customer service, packing, community events, deckbuilding, pricing and staring into the middle distance whenever Shopify does something unexpected.

He has spent years helping build local TCG communities and eventually decided that managing the players wasn’t enough—he also needed to become responsible for selling them cardboard.

Special abilities:

  • Can identify hundreds of cards on sight
  • Will spend three hours optimizing a deck before admitting it needs more Units
  • Treats spreadsheets as a recreational activity
  • Frequently says, “This order will pay for itself”

It rarely does.

Amy — Fiancée and Chief Financial Reality Officer

Amy did not start Luna Lilly Games, but she does live with the consequences.

Her responsibilities include asking sensible questions such as:

  • “Where exactly are you putting all those boxes?”
  • “Was that another stock order?”
  • “Why is there a commercial quantity of bubble mailers in the house?”
  • “Didn’t you say the last order was the big one?”

Amy provides emotional support, common sense and the occasional reminder that revenue and profit are apparently different things.

Like all senior executives at Luna Lilly Games, Amy is generously compensated with unpaid labour and the occasional promise that this order will pay for itself.

Lou Lou — Child, Junior Executive and Head of Morale

Our youngest team member specializes in quality assurance, sticker allocation and appearing precisely when fragile stock has been spread across the entire table.

She is compensated through snacks, pocket money and the understanding that every shiny card in the building is not automatically hers.

Her long-term business strategy remains unclear, although early indications suggest it involves keeping the cutest products and selling everything else.

Luna Lilly Games by the Numbers

1 owner doing approximately nine jobs

1 fiancée maintaining contact with reality

1 junior executive with questionable availability

Several thousand cards waiting to be organized

An alarming number of spreadsheets

A handful of friends convinced pizza parties count as payment for six-hour card-sorting sessions

0 plans to become a soulless cardboard megacorporation

What We’re Actually Trying to Build

Behind the jokes, Luna Lilly Games exists because we love trading card games and the communities that grow around them.

We want to give players a reliable place to find cards, discover smaller games, attend welcoming events and get help without feeling like they need to already know everything.

We’re still growing. We don’t have a giant warehouse, a corporate board or twelve departments. What we do have is genuine care for the products we sell, firsthand experience with the games we support and a commitment to treating customers like fellow players rather than order numbers.

If something goes wrong, you won’t be transferred between departments.

You’ll speak to Ryan.

Every department is Ryan.

The Official Mission Statement

Sell excellent cardboard.

Support good communities.

Pack orders safely.

Try not to fill the entire house with stock.

We are currently succeeding at three of these.
